Alcan Sustainability Report 2004

Alcan Prize for Sustainability
On January 22, 2004, Travis Engen, President and CEO, announced the creation of the Alcan Prize for Sustainability – an annual US$1 million award to recognize not-for-profit, non-governmental or civil society organizations for outstanding contributions to the cause of global sustainability. The announcement was made at a media conference in Davos, Switzerland, during the World Economic Forum's (WEF) annual general meeting.

The ultimate goal of the Alcan Prize for Sustainability is to recognize the critical role of the not-for-profit sector in promoting and implementing economic, environmental, and social sustainability.

Each year's winner will be selected by an international judging panel of distinguished individuals who are recognized for their significant contributions to sustainability around the world. In the interest of credibility and objectivity, Alcan has partnered with the Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum who will manage the day-to-day administration of the program.
