With 17 production facilities in six countries, Alcan Rolled Products Americas and Asia is focused on meeting the ever-changing needs of its global and regional fabrication customers through the rapid transfer and adoption of best technology and management practices. The group is mainly comprised of large aluminum rolling operations—more specifically, sheet and light-gauge rolling—and recycling operations.

This group also holds executive management responsibility for Alcan's global can sheet business. Aside from the aluminum beverage can market, other important end-use markets for the Rolled Products Americas and Asia Group include automotive, transportation, durable goods, and building and construction.

In the past decade, Alcan has made significant investments in the expansion, upgrade and acquisition of rolled products facilities in North and South America and Asia. We expanded our Pindamonhangaba (Pinda) rolling and recycling complex in Brazil to support the rapidly growing markets in South America; we invested in our Kingston, Canada rolling mill to increase our capacity in the automotive and industrial products markets; and we reinforced our Asian presence with Alcan Taihan Aluminum Limited and the subsequent acquisition of Aluminium of Korea Limited, Koralu.

Across the Americas we have a well-established and growing recycling network with four world-class facilities. In North America, the Company recycles used beverage cans (UBCs) and customer process scrap at three plants in the U.S.: Greensboro, Georgia, Oswego, New York, and Berea, Kentucky. Our Berea facility is the world's largest dedicated can recycling operation. In Brazil, the Company has played a key role in developing aluminum can recycling and our Pinda facility is the largest and most modern recycling centre dedicated to aluminum cans in South America. Alcan's conversion of UBCs into new high-quality rolled products results in significant environmental, social and economic benefits.
