  • Closure and rehabilitation of the 57-year-old Isle-Maligne site and subsequent reuse, which will increase employment in the community;
  • State-of-the-art technology for operating systems, equipment and process controls;
  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of aluminum produced;
  • Almost 60% of the 331 project contracts were awarded to companies in the local region of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean;
  • 9.25 million hours of manual labour covered by construction industry collective agreements;
  • Direct project economic impact estimated at CAN$1.16 billion in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and CAN$2.18 billion in the province of Quebec as a whole;
  • Continued employment for approximately 300 workers;
  • A contribution to Alcan's EBITDA of an estimated $250 million per year;
  • CAN$180 million of the total CAN$2.6 billion cost was applied to state-of-the-art environmental technologies and processes;
